About the Spirits
Whiskey, Gin and Vodka are the foundation that cocktails are built on, they give cocktails their base. Starting with great base spirits is essential to building a great drink.
At Dismal Harmony we offer Bourbon and Malt Whiskey selected for their distinctive flavor that punches through a complex cocktail. Our Gin is floral on the nose and bursts with cardamom and pepper on the palate; it sets the stage for liqueurs, juices, fruits and botanicals to complete the character of a cocktail. Our Vodka is made from American Potatoes and provides a unique character and a silky mouth feel. Vodka in cocktails is usually there exclusively to add alcohol but our Vodka takes its place among the other ingredients in contributing to the sensory experience of the cocktail.
If base spirits set the stage, the liqueurs are the characters that tell the story of the cocktail. Gin is the base of the Negroni and the Bijou, but Amaro (Francia in our case) is what makes a Negroni a Negroni, Chartreuse (Monk in our case) makes the Bijou the Bijou. Our Signature Cocktails use the unique character of our amazing liqueurs to build future classics that showcase the personality and character of our wonderful liqueurs.
Liqueur
Vidisha’s Masala Liqueur
Cumin and cinnamon notes are immediate on the nose and tongue, and star anise with a hint of heat, round out the lingering finish.
Masala is the Hindi word for spice and in culinary arts refers to any collection of ground spices. Famous Masalas include Garam and Tandoori Masala but there are infinite regional and family Masalas. Vidisha’s Masala liqueur is based on a family's Masala shared with us by our friend Vidisha. Vidisha’s Masala is like Indian food in a glass with cumin and black pepper on the tongue and a warm, anesthetic finish. Vidisha’s Masala is our own original recipe and is equally enjoyed “neat” as an aperitif or in amazing and unique cocktails.

Monk American Herbal Liqueur
History of Monk
Both the aroma and taste feature a complex blend of mint, pine, citrus, anise, with a bold, warm finish.
Monk is derived from a recipe for Chartreuse that was published in France contemporaneously with the registration of the Chartreuse brand. The French manuscript was translated into English in 1871 and “has been selected by scholars as being culturally important and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it.”
Monk is complex. Slightly sweet with an herbal and vegetal flavor profile that features Lemon Balm, Hyssop, Peppermint, Mugwort, Tansy, Flower of Arnica and other herbs, roots and botanicals. Monk can be sipped “neat” but is most often used in cocktails. Classic cocktail recipes that include Monk are Last Word, Bijou and The Green Ghost.
Monk shares the same ABV, sugar concentration, flavor profile and color as Green Chartreuse. Use Monk 1:1 in any recipe that calls for Green Chartreuse.

Francia Amaro Milano
Bittersweet and strong, the flavor features notes of orange peel, clove, cinnamon, gentian root, rhubarb, and grapefruit.
Amaro is the Italian word for bitter and Amaro Liqueurs earn the name by featuring bitter flavors. These bitter flavors are balanced against sweetness in the product to produce a well-balanced flavor that is complemented with a variety of other flavors. While Amaro were likely made in Italian Monasteries for centuries, the first known commercial Amaro was introduced in 1815. There are many styles of Amaro and they are generally associated with regions of Italy. The most famous and popular Amaro is the Milanese style developed in Milan in the late 1800’s.
The first known recipes for Amaro were published in a liqueur book in Italy in 1897 which included an “Amaro Milano” recipe upon which Francia is based.
Francia is the maiden name of our Distiller’s maternal Grandmother Emily and is an ode to her and our Distiller’s Italian heritage.
Francia shares the same ABV, sugar concentration, flavor profile and color as Campari. Use Francia 1:1 in any recipe that calls for Campari.

Libertasse
Fresh orange and preserved lemon notes on the nose lead to a bright mandarin flavor, with undertones of nutmeg and cinnamon. The finish is crisp and dry, with hints of marmalade and spice.
When you peel an orange the skin sprays oil on your hand and into the air, producing a strong citrus scent and flavor. Triple Sec liqueur is made by extracting orange peel oils into alcohol. Triple Sec was originally developed in France in the early 1800’s and has been popular ever since.
Triple Sec is best known as an ingredient in the Margarita and Cosmopolitan cocktails but is also used in the Sidecar, Long Island Iced Tea, and Mai Tai cocktails.
Libertasse is produced in 6 individual distillation steps using the highest quality sweet and bitter orange peels from around the world. The result is the most refined and high-quality Triple Sec on the market.
Libertasse shares the same ABV, sugar concentration, flavor profile, and color as Cointreau. Use Libertasse 1:1 in any recipe that calls for Cointreau.

Joe D’s Limoncello
The aroma presents fresh citrus peel, lemon verbena, and vanilla, with a subtle floral note. The flavor features bright lemon and citrus notes, with a smooth, silky finish.
Our good friend Joe D’Angelo introduced us to the pleasures of Limoncello as an aperitif. He’s taken us on a tour of Limoncellos and set the bar for what is a great Limoncello. We’ve created a Limoncello that we feel is the perfect balance of intense citrus and sweet. Superb in a cocktail or to sip as a digestif after dinner. Joe likes it so much we named it after him. Salut!

Gin
Afternoon Tea Gin
You will find a distinct tea note delivered by the Black Tea plant, as well as undertones of cardamom, juniper, and lavender.
The custom of Afternoon Tea was introduced into British royalty and upper social echelons in the mid 19th century. Rich and lush, it’s equal parts light supper and social event. With its floral nose and rich juniper, black tea, coriander and cardamom notes on the tongue, Dismal Harmony Afternoon Tea evokes the beauty and pageantry of traditional Afternoon Tea. Through the miracle of distillation, the formality and stuffiness often associated with Afternoon Tea is left in the boiler and only the sublime pleasure is imparted to the Gin. Drinking Afternoon Tea with your pinky out is not mandatory but if it happens, don’t fight it.
Afternoon Tea Gin is equally at home in gin-forward cocktails such as the Martini, Gin and Tonic, Tom Collins, and alongside other featured spirits in complex cocktails such as a Negroni, Clover Club, and Bijou.

Sourcing is a common, openly discussed practice; many of the top alcohol brands and products are sourced products. We have taken great care to source the finest whiskey to match the quality of our own whiskey and the rest of our product line. We value authenticity and honesty and offer this disclosure in the interest of our relationship with our customers and look forward to introducing our own unique aged products when they are aged to the level of quality that we want to offer. Thank you for your patience, we promise that it will be worth the wait!
Bourbon Whiskey
Vanilla and sweet oak on the nose. The flavor features notes of maple, oak, and toffee, with a long, dry, silky finish.
Our Bourbon is a high-corn bourbon with corn making up 75% of the grain bill. This allows the corn flavor to punch through in cocktails. The remaining grain bill is 21% Rye and 4% Malted Barley. The Rye adds spicy and peppery notes that complement the sweetness of the corn flavor. Our Bourbon is purposely made for cocktails yet also is a superb sipping Bourbon. Dismal Harmony Bourbon is a versatile and delicious spirit and is the only Bourbon that you will need.
